Town Square – Vence, France

ARTIST: Iain Stewart, United States

ARTIST STATEMENT: I enjoyed this one done in Vence. Walking with my friend Adrienne in town, we noticed another group painting and working in their sketchbooks. We just sat down amongst them and began to work. With so much going on in the buildings, I decided to keep the people and shadows as more of a graphic. Punchy color here and there too. As the other group realized we were not in competition or weirdos, a couple of conversations sprung up and while paint dried the other instructor and I had a nice chat about teaching abroad et al. Good times.

MEDIA: Watercolor
SURFACE: Beta Series – Extra Heavyweight – 270 gsm – White – Cold Press Finish
