Piazza del Duomo, Milan

Artist: Mais Qasrawi , Palestine
Artist Statement: I usually try to capture scenes or characters and take them out of their usual context, either using freedom in line strokes or in the application of color. I take quite an unstructured approach to creating my art, which I think makes it look more lively to the eye.

This sketch is of the Piazza del Duomo in Milan from a reference photo. I liked the panoramic view of picture so I decided to make a fast sketch of it. I did the line work with a Lamy Safari pen with a fine nib loaded with black ink and a Pilot G-Tec C4 rollerball pen. I used Pebeo watercolors.

I wanted to smudge the watercolors on purpose so they almost blend together in a unique way and as a final touch I added many splashes and stains to make the sketch more colorful and dynamic.

MEDIA: Ink and watercolor
SURFACE: Zeta Series – Extra Heavyweight – 270 gsm – White – Smooth Finish
