Artist Statement: I was sketching my son as he sat at my studio table as he was studying for his exams. I was focused on getting a looseness into my lines and adding splashes of colors. But once I was finished, the thing that struck me most was that I had drawn a young man. Immediately and all at once I felt surprised, sentimental, proud. What started out as a casual sketch, that I might well have chuckled at, is now something of deep meaning to me.
