Portrait of Kennedy McMann

ARTIST: Justin Maas, Canada
MEDIA: Pencil, white charcoal
SURFACE: Nova Series – Heavyweight – 150 gsm – Beige – Medium Grain Finish

ARTIST STATEMENT: As a portrait artist, I do a lot of different types of work – from very loose sketches, to my finished commissioned pieces. This drawing of Kennedy falls somewhere in the middle – about an hour and a half sketch, done in my hotel room in Vancouver. I drew it in my Stillman and Birn Nova beige sketchbook, which I love for these types of pieces as they accept light and dark media equally well. This one was done with graphite (mostly mechanical pencils) and white charcoal (Generals) in my 9 x 12 book.
