Across the Universe

ARTIST: Artdrawnd, California, United States

ARTIST STATEMENT: As I always use my painting processes to express inner feelings and emotions, I never really control what will happen on a blank page. On this black paper, it seemed like a space void to me, and I spontaneously had this idea of filling it minimally with two tiny human figures just facing the universe together. You might see an illustration of the connection between the macrocosm and us, and a reminder of how small we are in the vastness of this universe, or you might see a different story, that’s up to you. It seems to be a topic of importance to me by the recurrence of similar scenes, semi abstract landscapes where the human figure will only be a dot in a vast space, if he’s even present and visible, while nature and its atmosphere are certainly the main focus.

MEDIA: Gouache & watercolor
SURFACE: Nova Series – Heavyweight – 150 gsm – Black – Medium Grain Finish
