ARTIST: Ankit Jasmatiya, India
ARTIST STATEMENT: This is the reverse process artwork in which we need to go from dark to light. The surface is black and I can directly start using white charcoal pencil and finding light values. A process of this kind allows you to have a better understanding about light and shade.
I usually work on graphite, charcoal and soft pastels. I used various draftsmanship techniques for this study for achieving negative drawing, lighting effects, blocking method, subtraction method etc.
MEDIA: White charcoal pencil, compressed charcoal and other charcoal pencil, watercolor brush for dry blending.
SURFACE: Nova Series – Heavyweight – 150 gsm – Black – Medium Grain Finish
